Would Dead Nation work with different types of BOSS characters or with none at all ?

Tue Jan 12, 2016 11:05 pm

How different would Dead Nation be if the emphasis was on a non BOSS type of play .Perhaps an emphasis on environmental dangers spread evenly across the game ? More interesting mission objectives .Escort the scientist with the cure ,Escort survivors ?Rescue missions ?Could the BOSS play be better ?.A big acid spitting scorpion with snipers vulnerable more so from behind ? Would the game benefit from a greater emphasis of problem solving rather than BOSS endings ?

Interesting ideas. We certainly discussed internally how the series could evolve, and have a bunch of ideas too. Please don't read this as "we're confirming development of a sequel", we're not. But we often looks at our series and lay out plans that might never become reality, or could ultimately end up becoming completely separate games.

I understand that you have a position to keep game development confidentiality . Just to say that the BOSS model of play has been tried and succeeded in other games .I think Dead Nation could be better than that with more depth and diversity of game play goal achievement options .

Don't wreck Dead Nation, if you all change Dead Nation you'll wreck the franchise. Seen it happen with Socom. :evil :1angry:

There's practically no way to do sequels and make everybody happy. If you don't change enough, it's "more of the same". If you change things, "it's not like the original" and every change is bad. I guess that makes it easier for us when we need to make a new IP instead of a sequel :P

The challenge to any sequel is not to alienate your base. Zipper did that with Socom 4 and it proved disastrous for franchise and put the studio out of business and Sony shut them down. If there was a Dead Nation 2 i wouldn't change a thing, it's not worth the risk.

I don't buy that at all, you can change thing and gamers won't complain, but there's a difference between change and completely abandon a games core features. Which is why folks often complain .
Example: Alienation' why it's a very good game, it's not Housemarque. When i see this game it wreaks of Corporate Sony.
Sorry to say it, but Alienation is know were near Dead Nation and never will be.
